The incident is alleged to have taken place at Mitchelstown Road, Northwest Business Park in Ballycoolin, Dublin, on April 14, 2021.
The charge against Mr Ennis is under Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act. If found guilty of the offence in the circuit court, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, or a fine of €20,000, or both.
Lawyers for Mr Ennis applied for free legal aid, saying he was out of work and had no assets.
However, this was deferred after gardaí raised questions about his employment status.
Gardaí previously appealed for any road users who were travelling on the Mitchelstown Road between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on April 14 last and who had camera footage, including dashcam footage, to make it available to them.
According to gardaí, Mr Keane, who was originally from Ayrfield, Dublin 13, died at the scene after his motorcycle collided with a car at the entrance to the business park.
