A HOTEL worker who abused door staff after he was ejected from a pub has avoided a conviction so he can bring his daughter to Florida on holiday.

Stephen Moore (35) is saving for the trip which he hopes to take in four years.

Judge Dermot Dempsey said his request to be left without a conviction was like the story of a man preparing a wedding speech for his three-year-old daughter.

The judge ordered Moore to donate €1,000 to charity and struck out the charges.

The defendant, of Kinsella Hall, Collegewood, Castleknock, admitted public order breaches and simple possession of cocaine on February 6, 2022 in Swords village.

Garda Ciaran McGroder told Swords District Court that gardaí were on patrol at around 3am when asked to assist with a male who had been ejected from a pub and was being a nuisance outside.

Gda McGroder said Moore was abusive to door staff and had to be restrained.

Moore was searched at Swords garda station and cocaine worth €50 was found.

Defence solicitor Ray Kavanagh said Moore did not know how the cocaine ended up in his pocket, as he did not buy it and did not take drugs.

He said Moore wished to apologise. Moore had gone out socialising with friends and had not been out for a while due to Covid. He was not a big drinker and on the night had far too much to drink.

Mr Kavanagh said Moore hoped to bring his daughter to Florida in four years time. A conviction would affect his ability to travel.
