Possible serial killer active as prostitute found raped, tortured and crucified
Police believe that a serial killer is active in Italy after a prostitute was found stripped naked and crucified under a bridge.
The body of 26-year-old Romanian immigrant Andrea Cristina Zamfir was found in Ugnano, a village near Florence, hanging from a cross.
The brutal killing mirrors another attack on the same overpass last March and is leading officers to suspect a serial killer may be active.

The victim was found completely naked except for her shoes and had been forced to kneel with her outstretched arms taped to a horizontal barrier under the bridge.
Reports she had been sexually tortured before she was left to die, and bruising showed she struggled throughout the horrific assault.
Ms Zamfir’s clothes and purse were found about a half-mile away.

In March 46-year-old Alle Bartoline was discovered naked screaming for help, her wrists taped to the same barrier.
She told police an Italian man raped her and stole her purse.
She suffered devastating internal injuries as a result of the attack.
During the past decade, six or seven prostitutes have been killed in the area, Florence investigator Lorenzo Bucossi told reporters.
The overpass is in the same area where police believe the Monster of Florence killed 16 people between 1968 and 1985.
The serial killer's victims, many of them couples, were all shot at point-blank range. No one was ever charged in the murders, and the mystery remains unsolved, reports The Daily Mail.
