Zayn Malik ‘trying to nab One Direction songwriter’
Zayn Malik is reportedly attempting to have long-time One Direction songwriter Jamie Scott pen some tunes for his solo album.
The 22-year-old singer dropped out of the world famous boy band in March (15) and he is currently working on his individual album.
And it’s claimed Zayn has recently reached out to Jamie to enlist the music maker into creating some tracks for him.
“Zayn knows Jamie is a ticket to a hit and has been sending messages to him trying to get the songwriter on board,” a source told UK newspaper The Mirror.
But speculation is rife Jamie is hesitant to partner with Zayn. Jamie has penned numerous songs for One Direction, including More Than This and Midnight Memories. The songwriter has worked with the group since 2011 and apparently he is concerned joining with Zayn would jeopardise his relationship with One Direction.
“But Jamie feels that working with Zayn could cause problems because of his history with the band,” the source explained.
One Direction announced in August (15) they are planning to take a hiatus starting March 2016.
Zayn is said to be planning on releasing his solo album at a time when his former group are completely out of the public spotlight.
“In any case Zayn won’t be releasing his single until 1D is out the way and a couple of other 1D singles are out,” the insider detailed.
The star is said to be amassing a very powerful team of professionals helping him write songs for his first solo album.
He has reportedly recruited Malay, a musician who has produced tunes for John Legend and Alicia in the past. He is also the main creative engineer behind Frank Ocean’s critically acclaimed LP Channel Orange, which won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
British newspaper The Daily Mirror also reported Zayn is eyeing manager Sarah Stennett to help him, who has successfully bolstered the careers of stars like Rita Ora.
