Walliams, Stone ‘to finalise separation’
David Walliams and Lara Stone are reportedly finalising their separation this week.
In March of this year fans were shocked when news broke the supermodel asked her comedian spouse for a trial separation, with Lara apparently moving out of the family home with son Alfred and dog Bert.
And according to British newspaper The Mirror, the couple have now decided to officially end their marriage by pleading their case before a judge at London’s Central Family Court on Thursday.
The outlet claims Little Britain star David, 44, and Lara, 31, are applying for a separation order, also known as a decree nisi. Should they be granted what they’ve asked for, the pair will become eligible for a divorce and their marriage could end in as little as six weeks from the date of application.
The couple initially began dating in 2009 and they tied the knot a year later. They welcomed son Alfred in May 2013 and it was previously claimed family expansion was a big bone of contention in their relationship.
"Lara found it hard to lose her baby weight after Alfred, and she was worried it would hinder her modelling career,” a source told UK magazine Closer. “She doesn't want to risk losing her body again until she has everything she wants career-wise.”
It was also claimed David wasn’t ready to part from Lara and spoke with her every day even after they decided to do a trial separation. He apparently did all he could to bring them closer together and was even open to attending couples' therapy to save their relationship.
"David and Lara's marriage has been suffering for months. They had been living separate lives, but he's really hoping this isn't the end for them," the insider noted. "David became jealous of Lara cosying up with hot models on shoots. This was partly responsible for the arguments."
