Victoria Justice: I have nothing to prove
Victoria Justice never felt as if she had to “prove” anything professionally or personally.
The 22-year-old actress has starred in several children’s shows on Nickelodeon, including the network’s huge hits Victorious and Zoey 101.
But although many succumb to the pressures of being in the public spotlight, Victoria won’t buckle because she has a strong, confident family foundation behind her.
“I never felt like I had anything to prove; I was just looking for the right next step in my career. A lot has to do with how I was raised; my mum is really involved in my life,” she explained in the October 2015 issue of Cosmo for Latinas. “And when I was on Nickelodeon I was very aware I had a responsibility to represent the brand. There were a lot of young girls looking up to me.”
Victoria may have felt more pressure to mature quickly than others due to her successful career as a young actress.
But she hasn’t allowed the stress and strain of her occupation to crush enthusiasm.
“I love comedy; I’m very goofy and spontaneous,” she gushed. “I admire people like Kristen Wiig, who is hilarious but also does a lot of really cool films. I would love to have a career like hers. I also love Sandra Bullock; she’s so endearing, smart, and funny and not afraid to throw herself into whatever role she’s playing.”
Victoria enjoys becoming educated about the world around her.
And she advises young women to do the same.
“Educate yourself: Read up on current events and books,” Victoria offered. “I love to read books by women I look up to who are smart, funny, and interesting, like Tina Fey‘s Bossypants and Mindy Kaling‘s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?”
