Vanessa Hudgens thanks fans for support after Grease: Live

Vanessa Hudgens is grateful for the support she received while starring in the Grease: Live TV event just one day after her father passed away.

The actress played bad girl Rizzo in the U.S. television musical on Sunday night (31Jan16), with the performance taking place mere hours after she revealed her father Greg had lost his battle to cancer.

The show was ultimately dedicated to her 65-year-old dad, and Hudgens won praises for her stunning appearance from critics and fans alike, with co-star Mario Lopez tweeting, "Imagine if you had a day like @VanessaHudgens & performed like that. Wow.What a strong woman.My new hero."

And on Monday (01Feb16), Hudgens took to Twitter to express her gratitude for the outpouring of kind words, writing, "I can't believe @gogrease is OVER! Grand opening and grand closing. Thank you to everyone who watched & supported me last night. Doing #greaselive was one of the most incredible experiences and I'm so glad you guys liked it as much as I did. Till next time Rizz... #pinkladyforlife".

Grease: Live, which also starred Julianne Hough, Carly Rae Jepsen and Aaron Tveit, was a ratings hit in America, garnering over 12.2 million viewers. The event boasted a cast and crew of around 600, 14 sets and was presented on 20 acres of studio lot with a live crowd cheering from start to finish. The show was a live production of the 1978 movie musical, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
