Rihanna was "very much a tomboy" during her younger years.
The 28-year-old beauty has revealed that despite being inspired by her mother and aunt's fashion sense as a youngster she did in fact display several characteristics considered typical of a young male.
She said: "I was also very much a tomboy."
Despite this, Rihanna still very much had a penchant for shoes as a teenager and has admitted she fell in love with a pair of footwear after watching 'Sex and the City'.
The 'What's My Name' hitmaker longed for a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes because of the sheer praise the characters used to give them on the popular US sitcom.
She added to Vogue magazine: "They were a classic, a pump with a little brooch on the front, I think.
"I was 17, because it was soon after I first moved to America.
"I mean, the way they talked about those shoes. It made any woman want to get them."
Rihanna's prayers were answered later on in her career as the Spanish designer went on to make the same style which had appeared on the feet of character Carrie Bradshaw - who was played by Sarah Jessica Parker - in the programme and bought two pairs.
