Susan Sarandon not sure about taking search for romance to Tinder

Actress Susan Sarandon has no plans to hop on the dating app bandwagon in her quest for love just yet.

The Thelma & Louise star has been single since her relationship with toyboy entrepreneur Jonathan Bricklin broke down last year (15), but she isn't sure phone applications such as Tinder are going to provide an end to her solo status.

"I'm a New Yorker, I've always lived here but one of the reasons that I love New York is that the serendipity is just so thick here, so you can go out on the street and just see things you didn't count on and you don't have to swipe left or right," the actress, who previously dated actor Tim Robbins, told People magazine.

The 69-year-old called time on her five-year relationship with Jonathan, who was 31 years her junior, in early 2015, and she admits she has since struggled to find a suitable partner.

"I haven't found anybody yet since my last breakup," she said. "My daughter keeps telling me, 'Just be open'. I keep saying, 'I'm open, I'm open. I've been open'."

However, the actress recently confessed she feels she has been approaching relationships all wrong for many years.

Her ageing widow character in new movie The Meddler made her realise she has been too busy interfering in other people's lives to truly find romantic happiness.

"The thing I miss about being in a relationship is really just being in love," she told Vulture. "I could definitely identify with (my character) Marnie, because I love doing little things for someone that I’m with, or writing little notes. All the things that are not cool, that you’re not supposed to do if you want to keep your man, I do them."

Susan was previously married to Chris Sarandon from 1967 until 1979, and she romanced Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri, the father of her daughter Eva, in the mid-1980s.
