Stephanie Seymour arrested for driving under the influence

Stephanie Seymour has been arrested for driving under the influence.

The 47-year-old supermodel was apprehended by police in Greenwich, Connecticut, for the offence as well as "unsafe backing" on Friday night (15.01.16) after she allegedly drove the wrong way at a stop sign.

Cops claim Stephanie was on a ramp off the Interstate 95 highway when she stopped. A Mercedes car came behind her and stopped too, but instead of continuing on up the slip road, Stephanie put her Land Rover in reverse and collided with the other vehicle, TMZ reports.

Police also allege the model failed to take a sobriety test at the road side and smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet.

The police report reads: "Upon arrival, I observed a black Land Rover sideways at the top of the ramp and behind it was a white Mercedes.

"As I approached the operator of the Black Land Rover, I detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage omitting from her mouth as she tried to answer my questions.

"After six or seven requests for her license, registration and insurance, she finally was able to fumble through her purse, as she handed over her Connecticut driver's license, along with a credit card."

Stephanie was released on bail after paying a $500 surety and will appear in Stamford Superior Court next month.
