Sophie Turner stays playful
Actress Sophie Turner felt she had to grow up faster than normal, so still clings onto her childhood.
The flame-haired star has been acting since she was 13, and her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones has propelled her into worldwide fame. Because of her profession, 20-year-old Sophie makes sure she maintains a realistic outlook on life, as she knows her luck may not last forever.
"I definitely felt I had to grow up faster than I would have done," she told Britain's InStyle magazine. "I'm very driven in terms of work, but I'm almost more playful and silly than my friends. I cling onto childhood."
"Having a cynical perspective is best; in this industry, there's just a lot of rejection," she continued, adding how she and her fellow Game of Thrones cast members always anticipate their characters being killed off. "We all have that mentality, where we know we're expendable. We all just thought, this is a job. Try not to get fired."
Amid her rise to fame, with parts in Marvel movie X-Men: Apocalypse and upcoming drama Mary Shelley's Monster, Sophie has remained down to earth. She's stayed close to pals from school and isn't one to draw upon her star status when out and about during her spare time.
"I feel almost embarrassed by being in the public eye sometimes," she explained. "I almost get the feeling that people look down on me because of it. If you're on a night out, they will definitely tease you for it."
Luckily she isn't alone in feeling like this, and has her Game of Thrones family to ease her anxieties. Sophie is especially fond of Lena Headey, who plays the powerful Cersei Lannister.
"Lena felt like a bit of a mum to me," she smiled. "She's kind of the coolest person I've ever met. Tatted up, pixie hair - the epitome of cool."
