Sofia Vergara: 'Joe Manganiello is doing great'
Sofia Vergara has assured fans her actor husband Joe Manganiello is doing well following his emergency hospitalisation for appendicitis.
The Magic Mike star became ill in April (16) and checked himself into hospital, where doctors discovered he was suffering from "extremely serious" appendicitis and required emergency surgery.
Joe has yet to comment on his health scare, but his wife Sofia insists he was recovering well when she attended a Modern Family event on Monday (02May16).
She told ETOnline.com he is "doing great" and added, “He's OK... He had a little problem, but now he's good.”
The 39-year-old True Blood star and Sofia had to pull out of a charity event where they were due to serve as honorary co-chairs on 17 April (16) because he was too ill.
Joe has kept a low profile since his hospitalisation and only broke his silence on social media that evening (17Apr16) to praise Sofia, who he married in November, 2015. He wrote, "I love my wife."
When asked about the tweet, Sofia, 43, teased, "I'm always very special with him, so it must have been one of my normal days... That's how I am.”
Two days later he returned to Twitter to pay tribute to actress Doris Roberts, who died last month aged 90. He wrote, "I'll miss you Doris. Thank you for all of the laughs and the stories. #RIPDorisRoberts You are a legend."
Joe bowed out of a Navy SEAL drama series Six in April because a "very manageable pre-existing" health concern made it difficult for him to meet the physical demands of the role. The Hateful Eight star Walton Goggins has been cast to replace him in the drama.
