Simon Pegg: Drunk fans aren’t my favourite

Simon Pegg avoids pubs so he doesn't run the risk of drunk fans smothering him with hugs.

The 45-year-old actor has appeared in some of the biggest movies of the last few years, such as the Mission: Impossible and Star Trek franchises. With his higher level of fame comes more fans, which is something he's had to get used to.

"Sometimes it can be tiring when you’re out with your family. You don’t want to be rude to anyone ever because it would be terribly arrogant to rebuff someone who comes up and says they like what you do. Who the eff are you to snub that?" he told British newspaper The Independent.

“Pubs are the worst place because people are a little looser and they are more likely to come over and throw their arms around you, which isn’t always pleasant.”

That said, the actor enjoys seeing the effect his work has on people. It's particularly exciting when someone quotes back lines to him, as then Simon realises how much they must have loved his performance.

Although he's been in the industry for decades, it still holds a shine for the star. He enjoys working with his heroes, some of who have become friends. Among them is his Mission: Impossible co-star Tom Cruise, with the pair forging a strong bond while on set.

"It makes me laugh sometimes just how much of a bloke he is,” he giggled. “I think he does get an unfair rap for a lot of things. People just don’t know everything about him, but they think they do. I don’t know everything about him! I’m good friends with him, but there’s a lot I don’t know about his life... Sometimes, we’ll have heart-to-hearts at the end of the day.
