Simon Helberg: Romance doesn't rule Big Bang

Simon Helberg isn't worried The Big Bang Theory storylines will start involving marriage and divorce.

The show is known for its science geek themes, which has propelled it to cult status. It's an awards favourite too, bagging a Golden Globe and seven Emmys in its eight years on air.

The ninth season kicks off next week, with the series showing no signs of slowing down.

"It's been picked up through season ten, so that's a number the studio has in mind. Series ten or eleven is usually where it finishes, once the cast starts divorcing and marrying each other in the show. Not that they do that on our show," Simon smiled to British newspaper Metro.

Before starting an acting career, Simon was a teenage musician. He's always been based in LA, and now lives in the A-list city with wife Jocelyn Towne and children Wilder and Adeline.

"I don't think Miley Cyrus is from LA," he laughed when asked if he was worried his kids would do a Miley. "And I don't think it matters where you're from but we're pretty grounded. The people I grew up with are some of the most grounded people I know."

The latest project for the 34-year-old is a stint as director in We'll Never Have Paris. He also wrote, produced and starred in the movie, which is based on his temporary real-life split from Jocelyn.

"Was I crazy when I started or was I crazy when I finished? We asked that ourselves a few times. What perverse masochist wants to tell the story of their break-up with their wife? But it was fairly healthy throughout. I'm obsessive and worried and she's very focused and could talk me down from the ledge," he mused.
