Shannen Doherty hits the gym the day after chemotherapy
Shannen Doherty is maintaining her workout schedule despite her cancer battle.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star, who confirmed she was battling the disease in August 2015, hit the gym the day after a gruelling chemotherapy session.
In a video posted on Instagram she gave fans an update on the importance of staying active in the face of her health struggles, despite "not feeling too great", and feeling nauseous and achy after her chemotherapy session.
The 45-year-old actress shared a video which she filmed en route to the gym.
"After chemo day. I believe that just moving helps so much in the healing process," she wrote in the caption accompanying the online post. "It's not always easy and sometimes I can't do it the next day but I try to make an effort to get the blood flowing and the toxins out of my body thru (sic) working out.
"Some days are easy workouts and other days I push it but the key is to MOVE!!! This is for any illness. Obviously check with your doctor. The road to recovery is paved with all sorts of different material."
While the Charmed star certainly has a legitimate reason for skipping her workout, the actress' determination to stay strong despite her illness is evident. Shannen later shared another video of herself working out with her trainer Neda, and added, "Yes I was tired, yes I wanted to be in bed but I went and moved and felt way better. Any exercise during illness is good. We can do it!!!", as she encouraged her 600,000 followers.
Shannen's cancer was revealed in a lawsuit filed against her former business managers at Tanner Mainstain, who allegedly ignored a medical insurance bill which cost her her coverage in 2014.
As a result, she alleges she missed a number of check-ups and when she was eventually able to get an appointment under her renewed coverage, she was diagnosed with cancer - something medical experts believe may have been caught earlier had she had a routine physical in 2014.
The star, who has shaved off her brunette locks while undergoing treatment, married film producer Kurt Iswarienko in 2011.
