Selma Blair: 'People went nuts when I landed Kris Jenner role'

Selma Blair felt as though she'd "finally cast the biggest role of my life" when she signed up to play Kris Jenner.

The 43-year-old actress stars as the Kardashian momager in television series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. While Selma has starred in a host of box office hits, she was stunned by the reaction to her portraying Kris on the small screen.

"People went nuts when they heard I was playing Kris Jenner," Selma laughed during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Tuesday night (16Feb16). "It was like I had finally cast the biggest role of my life! And no matter how small it is it doesn't matter because Kris Jenner apparently is like… the Queen!"

Selma met up with Kris several times before taking on the role and the pair have become close friends. She added that people get the wrong idea about the 60-year-old matriarch, who she says is "lovely and endearing" in real life.

"Kris is very supportive and I just really fell in love with her," she gushed. "She's lovely and endearing and I think people just have no idea. So many people think so many things about the Jenners and Kardashians.

"She didn't give me her viewpoint any which way - people are going to write and say what they want. But this is not at all a takedown story of Kris Jenner. They are foreshadowing what's going to happen in the next generation."

Her new friendship with Kris saw Selma score an invite to one of the most prestigious showbiz events of the year - the Kardashians Christmas party. Selma, who had to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to the event, took her four-year-old son Arthur to the bash, and said her little boy was overwhelmed by the "magical" occasion.

"It was just the most exciting time of my life! I didn't take pictures to respect their privacy," she giggled. "They hold everything so close to their chest!

"It was beautiful and there were reindeer and my son really liked that."

When fellow guest Juno Temple asked Selma if they had been real reindeer she laughed, "Yeah, real reindeer, can you imagine?"
