Selena Gomez hosts her own Independence Day party
Taylor Swift's regular squad member Selena Gomez skipped her best pal's annual Fourth of July party to host her own bash.
The Shake It Off singer has hosted an annual Independence Day party at her Rhode Island home for the past few years and it is usually attended by her packs of pals, which includes longtime pal Selena, a self-proclaimed original "squad" member.
Taylor kept to her tradition and held a party over the holiday weekend inviting celebrity friends Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Ruby Rose, Cara Delevingne and her new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston, but Selena was a notable absentee.
It seems the 23-year-old couldn't make Taylor's annual bash due to her Revival tour, but she didn't want to miss out on the celebrations, so hosted her own event.
Selena posted a video to Instagram which shows her walking through a house, filled with people in swimwear, wearing a blue sporty crop top and matching shorts before heading outside. At the end of the clip, she turns to the camera, and squeals as she falls backwards into the swimming pool.
In the caption, she writes, "hostess vibes. Happy 4th everyone!"
She also posted pictures showing her submerged in the pool at sunset, and another of her playing around with a friend at a gas station that night.
It is thought Selena is in Arizona ahead of her show in Phoenix on Tuesday (05Jul16). Her tour most recently stopped in Denver, Colorado on Saturday (02Jul16).
On Sunday (03Jul16), Taylor and her friends were pictured playing around in the sea and on the beach near her home. Her rumoured new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston received criticism on social media for wearing a "I (heart) T.S." T-shirt in the sea. The couple have been dating for just a few weeks.
Taylor recently split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, who attended last year's (15) Fourth of July bash with her friends.
The singer shared a picture of her squad, plus actress Blake Lively and Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba, posing in front of a fireworks display on Instagram on Monday (04Jul16).
