Sean Penn: Robin Wright's shoulder to cry on?
Sean Penn and Robin Wright are rumoured to be "leaning on each other" following their breakups.
The stars were married for over 14 years until their divorce was finalised in July 2010, and have daughter Dylan, 24, and son Hopper, 22, together. It was the second marriage for both of them, following Sean's nuptials to Madonna and Robin's time with Dane Witherspoon.
After parting ways, both Sean and Robin came close to tying the knot with their respective new partners, Charlize Theron and Ben Foster. But with both engagements ending this year, they find themselves in the same boat.
“Sean and Robin are talking every day right now,” an insider told Radar Online.
“They’re both going through heartbreaks and they’re leaning on each other for support. It’s very clear he’s making a bid to win her back.”
The source adds that Sean has made a habit of reaching out to his former spouse during her relationship woes. It's the second time Robin's split from Ben, with the pair previously breaking up last November, before reconciling earlier this year.
However the source stresses that Sean and Robin could really be reconciling this time. The 55-year-old actor is said to be pining for his ex-wife, as she's the only person who truly understands him.
“She was always Sean’s soulmate and he says that’s why they clashed so much,” they added. “She gets him like no one else.”
It would likely come as difficult news for Charlize, as she and Sean were good friends for many years before taking things to the next level. The blonde beauty made it no secret how smitten she was with him before their breakup in June, openly gushing about Sean during interviews.
"Putting aside that he's my partner, he's the love of my life," she previously told Elle UK.
