Sarah Paulson felt 'physically ill' watching The People v. O.J. Simpson
Sarah Paulson couldn't watch her performance in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story because it made her feel "physically ill".
The American Horror Story actress played prosecution attorney Marcia Clark in the 10-episode miniseries and during its original U.S. airing between February (16), and April (16), Sarah said she planned to watch it in one go once it was over, but she has since revealed she unintentionally caught a little clip and it made her feel so sick, she hasn't seen any more.
"I haven't seen any of it and I just saw a little bit of that verdict," she said during the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour. "It literally made me physically ill. I thought I was going to cry and I was going to throw up."
Sarah, who is nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for the part, also revealed she felt "inside" of the verdict because she was "very, very connected" to Marcia and the role has changed her forever.
"I feel like it changed me molecularly in a way," she confessed. "Who I was when I came into this and who I became when it was over has changed."
The American Horror Story actress said she would like another series to work as an epilogue of the O.J. Simpson trial, but the show's executive producer Brad declared "the case is closed for us" with that story.
The next season of the anthology series will focus on the events surrounding the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005. Brad said he was currently waiting on first scripts and hopes he can find roles to give to stars from The People v O.J. Simpson.
"We'd like to use as many of the actors as we can again," he said. "It's going to be subject to their availability that we have the right roles... Certainly Sterling (K. Brown), (John) Travolta, Sarah, Cuba (Gooding, Jr.) - we'd love to figure out if there are roles for them."
Each of the named actors received Emmy nominations for their work and the show achieved a total of 13 nods, the most of any show for the 2016 ceremony. Winners will be announced on 18 September (16).
