Sarah Jessica Parker was warned against taking Halston gig

Sarah Jessica Parker has no regrets about her brief stint as head of design house Halston, even though "everybody" warned her against taking the role.

The Sex and the City star was named Chief Creative Officer of the fashion brand in January, 2010 and took charge of the label's contemporary line, alongside movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and designer Marios Schwab.

However, the fashion icon, who also served as the face of the company, exited the gig in July, 2011, and was promptly followed out the door by Weinstein and Schwab.

No official reason was given for their departure at the time, but now Parker has opened up about the experience, comparing it to dating a bad boyfriend.

Discussing the job during an interview at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit in California this week (begs17Oct16), the star admitted she had been warned off joining the then-struggling firm, but she was determined to do her best to help get them back on track.

"Everybody said to me, 'Steer clear of this,' it was like dating," she explained, according to People.com. "It was like the fellow that everybody said, 'Don't.'

"There were all these red flags, and my thing was always like, 'I can fix him. Just give me two weeks with this guy.'"

However, Parker eventually had to admit, "Sometimes, the fella doesn't change."

Despite the turn of events, the 51-year-old enjoyed her time on the other side of the fashion industry, and it inspired her to launch her own shoe line, named SJP.

She concluded, "There is no way that I would have walked away from that enormous responsibility without learning something."
