Ruby Rose is named GQ's Woman of the Year Down Under

Ruby Rose has been named Australian GQ's Woman of the Year.

The 'Orange is the New Black' star - who shot to fame after landing the role of inmate Stella in the Netflix series - picked up her remarkable prize at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, held at Merivale's Ivy Ballroom, in Sydney.

However, the Australian beauty - who moved to America to become an actress after working as a model and MTV presenter in her native country - has "mixed feelings" about her award because she feels no one supported her journey until she became a household name around the globe.

She said: "I have mixed feelings about that, because I really think that people underestimate you.

"There are so many talented people who worked really hard within Australia, they work their butt off and they don't get the credit that they deserve and they don't get the awards that they should get, and they don't get the (magazine) covers they deserve because we wait as a country, we wait for them to make it big overseas and I don't necessarily agree with that."

However, Ruby has admitted she's been left overwhelmed by the support she's received from her Australian fans and is enjoying the "tumultuous ride"

She added to "I've had this huge resurgence in Australia and I love that and I love people loving me here again, because it's been a tumultuous ride."

Other stars to walk away with a prize from the GQ Men of the Year Awards Down Under included David Gandy, who was honoured as International Man of Style, Jai Courtney was named Actor of the Year and The Madden Brothers picked up Duo of the Year.
