Ruby Rose hits back at critics after cancelling shows

Ruby Rose has hit back at critics on social media after she was forced to cancel DJ gigs and appearances in the U.K. and Europe.

The Orange Is the New Black star announced in a lengthy message on Instagram on Friday (05Aug16) that she was suffering from tonsillitis, and would not be attending several scheduled appearances, including Brighton Pride in England.

Captioning a shot of her posing in Spain, she wrote, "Tonsilitis (sic) and unable to fly because of the pain it's causing my ears :( means no more shows and I have to stay put before returning home :( sorry guys. I didn't even know you could get tonsilitis (sic) after like, 16."

Shortly after her announcement, many fans were still speculating why she had to cancel her gigs and appearances, with one asking her why she wasn't at Brighton Pride on Saturday (06Aug16).

Ruby responded, "Announced yesterday. - Have tonsillitis and it's also causing extreme ear pain and I've been advised I can't fly."

She then hit out at her critics on Twitter, who were questioning the actress was even ill. "It's upsetting to see people questioning me getting tonsilitis .. And cancelling 2 of 15 shows in a month.. Off the back of filming a movie," she wrote on Saturday.

"But I don't party, I've not been to one club except when playing here and I've had a 3 day vacation with childhood friends I flew out... Where we slept, watched movies and went to the beach. I dont drink as everyone knows, I'm run down and got tonsillitis its that simple. x."

The actress, who is currently on an extended vacation in Spain while she recovers, then concluded her Twitter response by writing: "Lastly, I trained hard for 3 films and continue to train hard, more than ever in my life.. I'm fit (well before I got sick ). Thats all.

"I dont care what 'people think' but I wanted to clear it up for the fans. however you should know me by now. Off socials again while I rest."
