Rosie O'Donnell confirms she has sole custody of daughter
Rosie O'Donnell has sole custody of daughter Dakota.
The comedienne and TV personality filed for divorce from wife Michelle Rounds in February, 2015 and they began publicly trading barbs against each other over parenting, leading a judge to order them to stop discussing their separation and custody battle of their three-year-old adopted daughter in public.
But last October (15), Michelle's attorney William London told the New York Post's gossip column Page Six that his client and Rosie had agreed to "joint legal custody" of Dakota.
When the pair's divorce was finalised it was understood that their joint custody agreement was still in place.
However, in a post on her website, Rosie told fans that this is no longer the situation.
Asked by one fan if she "shares custody of Dax", Rosie replied: "I do not."
Continuing the conversation, the fan then asked Rosie if Michelle is out of Dax's life, to which the star answered: "Yup".
During their initial custody battle, things took a nasty turn when Michelle filed for sole custody of Dakota, and accused Rosie of relying on nannies to raise their daughter.
"I just want my child to have the best possible environment to grow up in, a normal life. Right now she's got 24/7 nannies over there at Rosie's house. I don't want my child to have a 24/7 nanny," Michelle told Entertainment Tonight.
"She leaves the baby overnight with nannies, she has the monitor in the nanny's room."
But Rosie's representative hit back, telling the outlet: "This is an absurd and desperate attempt to use a child for her own gain."
Rosie and Michelle first started dating in 2011 and got engaged in December that year. They married in June, 2012, and adopted Dakota in January, 2013.
Rosie, 54, was previously married to TV marketing executive Kelli Carpenter, with whom she has children Parker, Chelsea, Blake and Vivienne with, in 2004 but it was annulled later that year. They stayed together until they eventually separated in 2007.
