Rose Byrne's breast milk confiscated by airport security
Rose Byrne had bottles of her breast milk confiscated by airport security on a recent trip.
The 36-year-old actress gave birth to her first child in February (16), a son named Rocco, with her long-time partner, actor Bobby Cannavale, 46.
Since Rocco arrived, Rose has balanced motherhood with promoting her new movies, Bad Neighbours 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse, with aplomb. But during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night (19May16), Rose shared that plane travel has proven to be particularly difficult with a little one in tow.
"I’ve been doing a lot of travelling too so I’ve been taking my breast milk everywhere with me," she said, with Stephen showing a photo of Rose at the airport as a bottle of her breast milk was being confiscated by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for being over the 3.4 oz. (100ml) limit.
"They wave this weird thing over the top of it and there's a whole production going on," she said. "They take it very seriously that it could be something. I just stand there and smile and tell them that it's really breast milk and that it's nothing."
After Stephen suggested that all she had to do was point to Rocco, she joked, "'He's really real; he's here. You want me to get 'em out? What do you think?'"
The Australian actress also revealed one of the biggest lessons she's learnt since becoming a mother is that time isn't on her side anymore.
"It takes a long time to leave the house, maybe an hour, hour and 45 minutes just to get out the door," she explained. "To do anything, you have to bring so many things with you: the bottle, the sling, this and that. Then when you get out, then he just throws up everywhere or takes a big poop, and you've got to go back inside again."
Though she has her hands full with her baby boy and blossoming career, Rose has already snapped back to her pre-pregnancy body and recently posed for Playboy in an elegant shoot which was released earlier this week (18May16).
