Richard Woods backs Joseph Valente to win The Apprentice
'The Apprentice' star Richard Woods has predicted that plumber Joseph Valente will win Lord Sugar's £250,000 investment.
Despite wanting Oxford university student Vana Koutsomitis to win the BBC One show, the Digital Marketing Manager - who was the bookies favourite before he got booted out on Wednesday's semi-final (16.12.15) - revealed he would put his money on the Peterborough plumbing boss to secure the prize.
Richard exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I want Vana to win. I think she's a great person, but I've got a feeling, and if I was to put my logical investor head on - the simple idea of building and growing a plumbing business with a guy who has been doing it already for a few years, and had been as successful and driven as Joseph - all those things add up to a nice, easy-to-understand, simple investment for Lord Sugar, that will just tie into his portfolio."
American candidate Vana has proposed a dating app that allows users to play games against each other and the market was described as "booming" by Claude Littner.
But Richard - who has four businesses of his own and has published a book about the plan he put forward in 'The Apprentice', titled 'Trail Blazer' - thinks that big profit margins in the building industry could persuade Lord Sugar.
He said: "He (Lord Sugar) hasn't done anything in this industry before you know. I had a marketing business, he invested in one last year, and the dating game is complicated and can burn through money easily."
The final of 'The Apprentice' airs at 9 pm on Sunday December 20 on BBC One.
