Reese Witherspoon protects kids from negative media

Actress Reese Witherspoon doesn't let her son watch anything that misrepresents women.

The 39-year-old star graces the cover of America's Glamour magazine, having been named one of its Women of the Year for 2015, and shared her pearls of wisdom during an interview with the publication. Raising her kids in Los Angeles, an area known for objectifying women, Reese does everything she can to ensure her brood aren't brainwashed. She has daughter Ava, 16, and son Deacon, 12, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and little boy Tennessee, three, with current spouse Jim Toth.

"Look, you do the best you can," she sighed, adding that it's hard. "When I find things egregiously misrepresentative of women, I'll make a point to say to my son, 'Turn that off. I don't want to see women behave that way. And I don't want to see men treat those women that way.' You hope you're saying the right things - but also, as a kid becomes a teenager, you feel like there's a ticking clock for you to tell them everything they need to know.

"My kids make me laugh every day. And they're so supportive. As I get older, they understand those things I worried about - the guilt of being gone - in a way that's so healing for me, when they say, 'Mom, we know you love what you do.'"

Reese is happier than ever in her personal life, admitting she keeps loving Jim more and more after almost five years of marriage. Her career has also continued to soar over the years and the Academy Award-winner landed another Oscar nomination for her role in 2014's Wild, as well as starring in movies such as The Good Lie and Inherent Vice recently. But the role on everybody's lips at the moment is ditzy Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde movies. 2016 marks the original instalment's 15th anniversary and Reese has hinted she's open to returning to the part.

"(Elle would) probably be a Harvard Law professor or a senator," the star smiled. "We should all dress in pink and storm into Congress on the anniversary and say, 'Why aren't there enough of us here? Where are the Elle Woodses of the world?'"

Reese isn't the only celebrity to have been honoured by Glamour; Caitlyn Jenner and Victoria Beckham are also among the ladies featured.
