Prince Harry: 'Mum would want me to have kids'

Britain's Prince Harry believes his late mother Princess Diana is watching him and longing for more grandchildren.

The British royal was just 12 years old when Diana died in a car accident in Paris, France in 1997, but believes she has been watching him and brother Prince William grow up.

Harry hopes his mum is proud, but thinks she probably wants him to become a father like his sibling, who has two children with his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, two-year-old George and 10-month-old Charlotte.

"I hope she's looking down with tears in her eyes, being incredibly proud of what we've established, I suppose," he told Good Morning America. "I'm sure she's longing for me to have kids so she can be a grandmother again, but I hope that, once again, everything we do privately and officially, that it makes her proud."

Speaking to the U.S. news show's anchor Robin Roberts, the Prince explained that for the moment he's revelling in his role as an uncle, saying, "I hope that I'm the fun uncle."

Harry also admitted how deeply affected he was by his mother's death, but now uses the traumatic experience to help those faced with similarly difficult life situations.

"I think losing your mother at such a young age, does end up shaping your life, massively," he said. "Of course it does. And now I find myself trying to be there and give advice to other people who are in similar positions."

During her lifetime, Princess Diana became well known for her charitable work, famously visiting Angola to campaign for the removal of landmines left during the African country's civil war. Harry hopes that his own charitable work will be seen as a continuation of his mother's legacy.

In May (16) Harry will bring the Invictus Games event he founded to Orlando, Florida. The event was set up in 2014 to allow wounded and sick army personnel and veterans from around the world to compete against each other in a variety of sports.

Earlier this week (beg14Mar16), the royal announced the 2017 edition of the games will be held in Toronto, Canada.
