Oscar Isaac: 'Los Angeles sells dreams'
Actor Oscar Isaac has compared life in Los Angeles to dating sites, claiming both play on your hopes and dreams.
The 36-year-old has certainly achieved his, boasting a part in upcoming Star Wars instalment The Force Awakens. But while he's made it in Hollywood, he has no illusions it can be a tough game in many ways.
"Dating sites and Los Angeles have a lot in common: they use your dreams," he opened up to Germany's Neon magazine. "They both lure you with a promise of: 'Come here, you can be happy.' And if you don't get lucky, it's even more painful than it was before!"
That's why Oscar decided to move to New York and set up home there. He finds the Big Apple peaceful and he can make time to relax.
"In my spare time I play the guitar, listen to music and plant things on my terrace," he smiled. "It makes me happy to see tomatoes and cucumbers growing there. I also like to go to the natural history museum and the theatre."
While he has some low-key hobbies, Oscar also enjoys a drink. He was very straight-laced as a kid, which means he tries to break away from that a bit now.
"I didn't drink. I didn't smoke. I didn't do drugs," he said.
There's not too much time for going out at the moment though, as Oscar also appears in X-Men: Apocalypse, due out in 2016. Director Bryan Singer shared the poster for Oscar's character En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse over the weekend (12-13Dec15), with fans excited over the Hamlet-esque image that shows En Sabah Nur stare into the eyes of a skull.
""... from the ashes of their world we'll build a better one." Check out this exclusive #Apocalypse poster, I’ll be answering your #XMen questions live today at 12:30 PM PT.," he captioned the teaser.
