One Direction fans 'boo Zayn Malik'

One Direction fans reportedly booed former member Zayn Malik at a gig in Cardiff, Wales on Friday night (05.06.15).

The 22-year-old star announced his decision to quit the chart-topping boyband in March and during the group's first UK performance since losing Zayn, fans jeered an image of the one-time member that appeared on a big screen.

The remaining boys - Harry Styles, 21, Louis Tomlinson, 23, Niall Horan, 21, and Liam Payne, 21 - performed in front of a 70,000-strong crowd at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff as part of their On The Road Again, but when Zayn's image was shown during an advert for their hit single 'You and I', the crowd responded negatively, The Sun newspaper reports.

This comes shortly after Harry claimed the group needs to remain focused on their music, rather than worry about the controversy surrounding Zayn's abrupt departure from the band.

The 'Steal My Girl' hitmaker said: "We have the album and the tour that we're working on right now. And I think, when you have so many goals that you feel you have yet to achieve, it's kind of hard to see past those.

"I think it's important to focus on what's going on and don't lose track. We're all working toward the same thing right now, and I don't think we're thinking much past that."
