Nicole Kidman: 'I was a baby when I married Tom Cruise'
Nicole Kidman will never bad mouth her former husband, Tom Cruise, because the nine years she spent as his wife was a huge learning experience.
The 48-year-old actress met Tom on the set of their 1990 movie Days of Thunder and the pair wed in 1991 and adopted two children together before they split in 2001.
Now happily married to country singer Keith Urban, the father of her two youngest daughters, the Oscar winner has no regrets about her time as Mrs. Cruise.
"Any time you have a chance at something again is good, but each combination of people is different," Nicole told London's Evening Standard newspaper. "I was a baby when I married Tom, but I don't regret any of it. But out of respect for Keith I tend not to discuss any of that now..."
Following his split from Nicole, Tom went on to marry Dawson's Creek actress Katie Holmes in 2006. That marriage failed too and the couple split in 2012, while Nicole and Keith's marriage appears to be going from strength to strength. They are supporting each other in their various professional pursuits, with Keith sharing his time between America and England, where Nicole is currently starring in London play Photograph 51.
The couple wed after just one month of dating and have defied the cynics by appearing happier than ever.
"We got married very quickly and we got to know each other when we were married,” Nicole told Us Weekly in October (15). “I wanted a partner and someone to share my life. I wanted more children. That’s happened for me. It’s not through just luck. I was open to it and willing to change and welcome the change. I got to have a child when I was 41 and then we had a surrogate."
Nicole and Keith are parents to seven-year-old Sunday Rose and four-year-old Faith Margaret.
