Naughty Boy: I got caught up in One Direction circus
Naughty Boy got caught up in the One Direction "circus" in the wake of Zayn Malik's departure.
The producer - who has just released new single 'Runnin' (Lose It All)' with Beyoncé - supported Zayn after he made the decision to quit the boy band in March and the pair spent a lot of time together at his studio which led to a Twitter spat between the hitmaker and Zayn's former bandmate Louis Tomlinson and Naughty Boy being attacked online by the group's fans.
Naughty Boy and Zayn then had a falling out which spilled onto social media and the music maker has compared the experience to be like going back to "primary school".
In an interview on UK TV show 'Lorraine' this morning (22.09.15), he said: "I got caught up in a bit of a circus as in when Zayn left the band, I got accused of basically being the reason why he left. People thought he left because he wanted to work with me. But do you know what it is, One Direction is like an economy, it's not a band. It became a bit of a circus and in hindsight it's like I went back to primary school but with Beyoncé and this song I feel like I'm doing my Masters."
However, the 30-year-old star doesn't regret anything that happened and believes everything that has occurred has been an important part of his journey.
He explained: "Do you know what, the whole year has been a journey and to end it on this note is the best way I can actually explain what I do best (which) is make music and hopefully inspire people. I want to make songs for people's weddings, wedding songs, funeral songs those are the songs I want to be remembered for. I'm not a tabloid guy, I don't want to be in the papers for anything apart from what I do best which is make music."
