Miranda Kerr gushes about fiance’s eco-conscious gift

Miranda Kerr is thrilled with the less than romantic gift her billionaire fiance Evan Spiegel had installed in their home.

The Australian supermodel and Snapchat chief executive confirmed their engagement last month (Jul16), announcing the news in an Instagram post which featured black-and-white photo of a diamond ring, overlaid with two Bitmoji characters and the words “Marry Me!”

But despite being given such beautiful bling, it seems that Miranda is just as easily impressed by more ordinary gifts. Speaking about her new home in Malibu which she shares with Evan, the 33-year-old gushed about the not entirely romantic present her beau had installed in order to solve her landscaping issues.

“Obviously I’m aware of the drought problem in California,” she told U.S. Harper’s Bazaar. “This (Skywater 300) system really just pulls water out of the sky,” she explains of the gadget, which draws moisture from the humidity in the air and creates enough water for the whole house. “It was a very thoughtful present because he knows how much I love a garden.”

In the accompanying photoshoot for the September edition of the publication, Miranda is seen posing on a large inflatable flamingo in her pool, and standing on a swing which hangs from an enormous tree.

And having an idyllic garden was particularly important for the Victoria’s Secret model, as she wanted her five-year-old son Flynn, whom she shares with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom, to experience a childhood similar to her own upbringing in rural New South Wales.

“When I was a child, I spent a lot of time at my grandma’s house. People were coming in and out. She was always in the kitchen making something. There was always food and snacks,” she said. “She would play the piano, and we would sing and dance. So those were my two priorities. I wanted to have a piano and a great kitchen, which is always the heart of the home.”
