Melissa Rivers: Fashion Police is finding its feet
TV star Melissa Rivers thinks Fashion Police is ready to be more creative now its returned to the small screen.
The E! style show had a number of teething problems after former host Joan Rivers passed away in September last year (14). The legendary comic was replaced by fellow funnywoman Kathy Griffin, but she quit after just seven episodes back in March (15). Long-term panelist Kelly Osbourne had left the previous month (February15) and the succession of departures forced the show into a five month hiatus.
The programme returned on 31 August (15) with Melissa - who also produces the show - as a co-host to Guiliana Rancic and third panelist Brad Goreski and the 47-year-old believes the show is on an upward trajectory.
"I think we really started to find our footing those last few episodes that I hosted," she told People magazine. "So now that we have our feet underneath us, I think we can start to explore creatively a little bit more."
Her mother Joan hosted the show from its debut in September 2010 until her death in September following complications which occurred during a routine medical procedure on her throat. The 81-year-old loved style as much as comedy and her daughter told the outlet what trends her mother would be enjoying if she were still here now.
"Oh, she'd be loving the very romantic, sort of Edwardian trend that has come in," she said. "She would be loving that!"
But when it came to what trends would have been on the receiving end of Joan's sharp tongue, Melissa struggled to pick one look.
"Oh god," she laughed. "Too many to even start to rattle off to you!"
