Matt LeBlanc blasted by Australian radio host for awkward interview
Matt LeBlanc has been slammed by an Australian radio host for barely speaking during a joint interview with his Top Gear co-star, British presenter Chris Evans.
The former Friends star and Chris were interviewed for Australia's Kyle and Jackie O Show, but the duo refused to play the entire pre-recorded chat on their programme Friday (27May16) because Kyle Sandilands was so annoyed with Matt, who barely answered any questions, making them struggle to start a conversation.
They aired excerpts from their chat, which Kyle called a "disaster" because Matt "said about 15 words in the whole interview." For example, during their car-related exchange, the Top Gear duo were asked, "Do you guys believe that you can pull a chick if you have a good car?" and Matt replied, "Chick as in a chicken?" and in a chat about car air fresheners, he shuts down the conversation, saying, "I don't know. I don't use them."
In between each clip, Kyle aired his frustration at Matt on air, saying “The guy’s an a**ehole... I was really p**sed off because I thought, why am I giving up my evening for these p**cks?”
At the end of the segment, Kyle said, “I now hate Matt LeBlanc... Here I was for the last 20 years feeling sorry that (TV spinoff) Joey didn’t work out and now I know why, because you’re an a**ehole.”
Despite his reluctance to chat for the radio show, Matt had plenty to say during his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, which airs in the U.K. on Friday night (27May16).
The actor recalled his love of cars from a young age, showed a picture of the large bulldozer he owns, admitted the show was "a lot bigger than I thought it was" and joked that he couldn't even escape Friends while filming the series.
“Friends just follows me around," he said. "I was recording a piece to the dashboard camera of the broken down car while being towed and driving past were two guys in a plumber’s truck who shouted out, ‘How you doin?’ We kept it in the show.”
In the premiere episode, which airs in the U.K. on Sunday (29May16), Matt and Chris drive three-wheeled cars, with their roofs cut off, between London and Blackpool in north England, and Matt ends up with a car which "breaks down repeatedly" while Chris' "runs like a clock!”
