Matt Bomer thanks grandparents for thriving marriage with his husband
Actor Matt Bomer is convinced his marriage to husband Simon Halls is so successful thanks to his grandparents' influence.
The American Horror Story star tied the knot with his other half in 2011 and they are still going strong.
"I sort of take cues from my grandparents," the 38-year-old tells People magazine of how he and publicist Simon have made it work for so many years. "(My grandparents) just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary, so I always look to them and I see how every day they express their love for each other and I try to follow. They've set a pretty good model for me to follow."
Matt and Simon are proud parents to three sons, Kit, Walker and Henry, and his approach to maintaining a happy household is to take it "one day at a time".
However, the Magic Mike XXL leading man admits fatherhood can be tough when it comes to making private romantic time for himself and his husband.
"Well, we have three kids right now, so you've got to fit the romance in when you can," he explains.
Bomer previously revealed he and Halls have been doing the best they can to ensure their sons enjoy their youth, and part of the spouses' strategy to ensure this happens is to prevent the kids from launching an early career in the entertainment industry.
“I don’t want anybody out on stage any time soon,” he confessed last year (15). “I want them to have a nice, normal childhood.”
That doesn’t mean that Matt and Simon stifle their kids’ creativity though. The family pay regular trips to museums and read books on art and photography.
“We try to select schools for them over the course of their lives that encourage them,” he added.
