Matt Bomer: I want a normal childhood for my kids

Actor Matt Bomer is reluctant for his three children to go out on stage “any time soon”.

The Magic Mike XXL star has 10-year-old son Kit and seven-year-old twins Henry and Walker with husband Simon Halls. While the 38-year-old loves being an actor, he doesn’t want his offspring to follow in his footsteps while they’re still so young.

“I don’t want anybody out on stage any time soon,” he confessed to People magazine. “I want them to have a nice, normal childhood.”

While Matt is determined to keep his children out of the limelight for now, when he was a child he was desperate to be a star. Matt asked his parents for a set of head shots at quite an early age.

“They were like, ‘What are you talking about?! Go outside and play!’ I’m so glad they did,” he laughed. “I had a normal childhood where I was able to cultivate my own creativity, and I don’t think I would have been ready for this crazy business at eight years old.”

That doesn’t mean that Matt and Simon stifle their kids’ creativity though. The family pay regular trips to museums and read books on art and photography.

“We try to select schools for them over the course of their lives that encourage them,” he added.

Matt and Simon married in 2011 and despite the star’s raunchy roles in Magic Mike XXL and more recently American Horror Story: Hotel, it doesn’t affect their relationship one iota.

“There's been a lot of that sort of scene work for me over the years in one form or another, so I think we're all pretty much sort of anesthetised to that," he previously told the outlet. “It's part of the job. It's part of the character's reality and who they are and their circumstances. That's what you show up and do. It's just a day at the office sometimes when you're an actor."
