Mark Owen 'to work with Liam Neeson on stage show'

Take That's Mark Owen could be collaborating with Liam Neeson as he reportedly embarks on an acting career.

The British pop star has been a part of the music industry since the '90s, with boy band Take That reforming in 2005 as a man band and once again dominating the charts. Those close to the 43-year-old now say Mark has set his sights on a career as a thespian.

“This could be the beginning of a whole new chapter in his career," an insider told Britain's The Sun newspaper. "Besides his 2002 Celebrity Big Brother appearance, he’s never really ventured outside of the music industry before.

“However, he always believed he had potential as an actor, and is now really keen to find some success outside of Take That."

It seems theatre could be the star's calling, and insiders say a role in the 2016 West End production of War of the Worlds could be his first acting vehicle. Oscar-nominee Liam appears in 3D hologram form in the show, meaning Mark will be in good company should the part come off.

Mark has previously ventured out on his own from bandmates Gary Barlow and Howard Donald with solo material, but it didn't fare as well as expected.

“Seeing as his solo albums never really set the world alight, he thinks this could be a great opportunity to establish himself independently from the band," the source noted.

“He’s willing to put the work in and learn the craft, and thinks WOTW could lead to TV and maybe even movie work in the future.”
