Manganiello: Paparazzi is part of my life

Joe Manganiello hopes paparazzi will eventually leave him alone to focus on his career.

The Magic Mike XXL star has rose to prominence in recent years thanks to his work on the stripper movies and in hit TV show True Blood. Currently his forthcoming nuptials to Modern Family beauty Sofia Vergara has really got the media interested in the 38-year-old, but Joe does his best to take it in his stride.

“It’s just part of my life now,” the actor told Muscle & Fitness when asked if he worried about the paparazzi crashing his nuptials. “My backyard in Beverly Hills is a no-fly zone. What do you do about that? Try to shoot a shotgun at the helicopter? I just want to do good work and I want to entertain people. At some point, hopefully, that will prove to be uninteresting to them and they’ll leave me to do my work. That’s all I want.”

Despite the press intrusion, Joe’s life is much calmer now than his earlier years. As well as being an outcast at school, shoplifting as a kid and struggling for work as a wannabe actor, the star also battled with alcohol abuse.

“I had a serious issue with drinking that needed to be handled,” he told the outlet, adding he has been sober for 13 years.

The actor now follows a healthy living and fitness routine, the results of which he shows off on the magazine’s cover.

With a sculpted six pack and bulging biceps, Joe stares intently down the camera. It seems the star was pleased with the results of the shoot too, taking to Twitter on Friday to share the cover with his fans.

“Honored to appear on my third @muscle_fitness cover, on stands Monday. Thank you! @shawnperine and @Schwarzenegger (sic)” he wrote.

Joe and Sofia started dating last year, and got engaged over the Christmas period. The stars will reportedly tie the knot in November.
