Mandy Moore getting parenting pointers from TV series
Mandy Moore is picking up parenting tips on her new TV show This Is Us, revealing she'd like to be a mum one day.
The singer and actress, who ended her marriage to rocker Ryan Adams last year (15), plays the wife of Milo Ventimiglia's character in the forthcoming series, and the couple has a kid in the drama.
Mandy has never played a wife or a mother onscreen and she's taking notes for the future.
"This is my first time playing a wife and mother," the Saved star tells Entertainment Tonight. "We’ve only worked with babies in the pilot episode. It’s certainly good practice because I want to be a mom one day. Working with babies and kids and everything in between."
And she admits the new show could not have come at a better time for her after the breakdown of her six-year marriage: "I think everything happens for a reason and I think I spent a good portion of the last years of my life really pouring all of my energy into my life and relationship and now that that’s not a part of my life anymore, it’s not a coincidence to me that things sort of opened back up and I’m able to focus back on myself again," she explains.
And Mandy is hoping TV success will lead to a music comeback.
"I’m not working on anything at the moment, but once this gets up and running, I want to go back to music," she says.
"I think life sort of put it (music career) on the backburner. Acting and being in film, trying to do television, has always been a huge priority... Even though I started in music, I feel like it (acting) continued to give me way more opportunities than music did.
"Now that I feel like this part of my life is percolating and up and running again, it’ll allow me creatively to focus back on the music."
Mandy admits she hasn't stopped writing new material and has a "trough of music to choose from".
"I also feel like a lot has happened in the last two years of my life that I want to be able to put into music and it’ll be cathartic," she adds.
