Mad Men creator: Hamm, Westfeldt split is tough
Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner says Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt’s split is “hard on them both”.
The couple announced earlier this month they had decided to end their love affair after spending 18 years together.
And director-producer Matthew claims the parting is a huge struggle for the former couple right now.
“It’s a tough time for [both of them],” Matthew told Us Weekly magazine. “I know both of them very well. They are both really gifted artists and it’s rough. But it’s also — it was a very long relationship.”
Speculation is rife as to why Jon and Jennifer put an end to their relationship.
It’s claimed a number of factors contributed to the breakup, including family expansion prospects.
“There’s always been a rift,” a source previously told the outlet. “Because he wanted kids and she didn’t.”
In addition to the children argument, the pair allegedly did not see eye to eye on another key issue.
Jon’s partying supposedly became too much for Jennifer to bear.
"Jon and Jennifer really fought hard to make their relationship work, Jennifer more so than Jon," a source told ET Online. "They were together for many years, but in the end, it was too much work. It's no secret that Jon likes to go out and leads a very party-heavy lifestyle. And Jennifer was just tired of that.
"She wanted him to grow up … and he never wanted to. She was tired of being his mother."
