Lea Michele: I’ve taken some punches

Actress Lea Michele doesn’t believe fame is easy, as she has taken some serious “punches” along her road to stardom.

The 29-year-old first became famous when she landed the role as Rachel Berry on TV show Glee in 2009.

Lea’s star continues to rise, but this doesn’t mean life is simpler for her.

“Everybody thinks you're a star with roses being dropped at your feet,” she explained in an interview with Marie Claire magazine for their November (15) issue. “You have to take some f**king punches. Now I have my groove . . . I am much more aware. I also don't care as much. I am very content with me."

Lea began dating her late Glee castmate Cory Monteith in 2011 and they were together until his surprising death on 13 July (13).

Cory passed away at the age of 31 from a fatal combination of alcohol and heroin.

Lea grieved tremendously over his demise and she admits the process was challenging.

"Getting to the other side takes a lot of work,” the Scream Queens star shared. “All you can do is get to the other side. It's a struggle. When you do, there is happiness there. It's important to me to keep private some of that process with how I got here. But I am here, I am good, and I am very grateful for that."

Lea is currently in a relationship with Matthew Paetz, who she began dating in July (14) after they met in April of the same year.

The stunning brunette appreciates how far she has come since Cory’s death, as Lea has purchased a new house and managed to open herself up to a fresh romance.

“The new house might be a little baller. I've earned it,” she said. "Matthew is a good cook. Food, for me, was always about love and connecting."
