Lamar Odom ‘has 50/50 chance of survival’
Lamar Odom’s doctors are reportedly unsure if he will live after suffering multiple organ failures on Tuesday (13Oct15).
The former LA Lakers player remains in a critical condition after he was found unresponsive at the Love Ranch South brothel in Pahrump, Nevada.
Earlier reports suggested he is in a coma and hooked up to a ventilator to help him breathe. Now hospital sources tell TMZ.com that doctors are giving the star a 50/50 chance of survival.
According to the outlet, Lamar’s doctors are having trouble determining the extent of possible brain damage the 35-year-old may have sustained, due to the failing of internal organs including his kidneys.
ET Online also claims Lamar had a heart attack before he was found by staff at the brothel.
Earlier on Wednesday (14Oct15), TMZ added that a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan revealed Odom had also suffered a series of small strokes.
Doctors allegedly found traces of cocaine and opiates in Lamar's system and authorities are reportedly treating the incident as an overdose. Odom arrived at the brothel on Saturday (10Oct15), and had been partying with women for days before he was found.
His ex-wife Khloé Kardashian has raced to be by his bedside amid reports that their divorce still hasn’t been finalised. According to US Weekly, a rep for the Los Angeles Superior Court said that the judge has yet to sign the final judgment documents as of Wednesday. The 31-year-old originally filed the papers to end their four-year marriage in December 2013 after reports of Lamar’s substance abuse emerged but the couple didn’t sign the documents until July this year (15).
The fact that the pair’s divorce has reportedly yet to be finalised may mean the medical fate of Lamar will be left in the hands of his former spouse.
Khloé is said to be distraught over Lamar and is being consoled by her mother Kris Jenner and older sister Kim Kardashian. Scott Disick, who was in a long term relationship with Khloé’s sister Kourtney until June this year (15) also arrived at the hospital in Las Vegas on Wednesday (14Oct15) alongside Lamar’s former LA Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant.
