Kristen Stewart has Twilight reunion at Women in Hollywood Awards
Kristen Stewart enjoyed a mini Twilight reunion on Monday (24Oct16) as she reconnected with Anna Kendrick, Dakota Fanning, and Nikki Reed at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards.
The Snow White and the Huntsman star and Kendrick were among the eight honourees at the event in Beverly Hills, California, where they were celebrated for their career successes alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Amy Adams, Felicity Jones, Kathy Bates, Helen Mirren, and Aja Naomi King, who each feature on different covers for Elle's November (16) issue.
Dakota, Nikki and original Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke were among the guests at the magazine's annual party, where Fanning was chosen to introduce her pal Stewart, and described their friendship as "one of the most special bonds in my life".
"She has held my hair back and talked me through heartbreak," the 22-year-old smiled, adding, "She has always been there for me when I needed her most, and most of all, she has taught me the power of being 100 per cent yourself 100 per cent of the time."
Taking to the stage, Kristen, who was accompanied to the gala by her new girlfriend, singer St. Vincent, began her acceptance speech by noting the struggles women still face in Hollywood, stating, "While I'm so glad to be here tonight with so many incredible people, I would be remiss if I didn't say how much I look forward to a time when there's not a need for a special night for women."
She went on to thank her parents for inspiring her to pursue a career on the big screen, and returned the sweet compliments lavished on her by Dakota, before promising, "I'll do this for you really soon. Just ask me."
Many people at the event were keen to praise U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as the election nears, and British actress Mirren didn't pass up the opportunity to take aim at the Democrat's Republican rival, Donald Trump, who has recently been accused of sexual harassment by a slew of women.
The Queen star used her moment onstage to share a "few tips to get through life", and concluded her acceptance speech by urging fans to "ignore anyone who judges the way you look, especially if he or she is some anonymous miserable creep lurking on the internet or is a bloated small-headed dinosaury-hand (sic) candidate for president."
