Kristen Stewart gives Daisy Ridley advice
Kristen Stewart has advised Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley to focus on what makes her happy.
23-year-old British actress Daisy was relatively unknown until she was cast in a lead role in intergalactic instalment The Force Awakens. It was a similar story for Kristen, 25, who in 2008 was catapulted into fame with Twilight. Now she’s reached out to Daisy, to help guide her.
"Focus on the fact that you're stoked ’cause you're doing the work that you want to do…” she said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It's literally mainly just about focusing on what makes you happy. And if losing your anonymity or whatever doesn't make you happy, then focus on something else."
Kristen has had to deal with the ups and downs of fame: in 2012 she was caught in a clinch with her Snow White and The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. He was married to Liberty Ross at the time, while Kristen was in a high-profile relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
In drama Clouds of Sils Maria Kristen plays a movie star’s assistant, using inspiration from her own experiences.
"As somebody who's dealt with the more absurd, really surreal, oftentimes insanely superficial, empty circus of what the media can be — and perception versus reality — I thought it was really funny and appropriate for me to play that part,” she smiled.
While Twilight has enabled Kristen to play the roles she wants, she does acknowledge the downsides.
“I did Twilight when I was 17, it came out when I was 18 and my life was never even remotely the same,” she sighed.
