Kris Jenner: 'I felt powerless after Lamar's overdose'
Kris Jenner felt helpless in the wake of Lamar Odom’s hospitalisation for a drug overdose.
The basketball star was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel in October (15), and was quickly taken into medical care. As Lamar recovered he was moved to a hospital in Los Angeles, where he was closer to his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian and her family.
In the latest episode of the family’s reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, older sister Kourtney talks to her mother Kris about Lamar’s transfer.
"I felt helpless,” Kris sighed. “It was really crazy. I’m so overwhelmed with what’s going on with Lamar. It’s heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so powerless, and it makes me really sad.
"I got to Cedars (Sinai hospital) and met all the doctors. Everyone showed up in the middle of the night. We got him settled and then I went home. I’m going back this afternoon and see what Khloe needs... Take her some fresh clothes and hopefully she’ll get her hair washed."
Kourtney also shared how she was feeling. Despite Lamar and Khloe calling time on their marriage at the end of 2013, the couple never divorced. During Lamar’s recovery Khloe decided to stop divorce proceedings, explaining it was to help the sport star focus on his health. Now Kourtney and Kris have shed light on how Khloe dealt with things.
“I feel like relieved that he’s here,” Kourtney said.
"I do too,” replied Kris. “I think that Khloe is less stressed out because she’s here and she can be at the hospital every day.
"Right now they have to stabilise all of his organs and they want to do another MRI and they want to make sure that the dialysis is under control because the strokes are debilitating and they don’t know yet how he’s going to respond to all of it. But I think just him hearing our voices and seeing us having family around is healthy and might make a difference.”
