Kit Harington's odd pre-show ritual

Kit Harington kisses a crucifix three times before each performance of Doctor Faustus.

In the revival of Christopher Marlowe's play which kicked off in April (16), the Game of Thrones actor plays a man who sells his soul to the devil.

To get into character before each show, Kit has revealed that he has several bizarre rituals he must complete before taking the stage at London's Duke of York Theatre.

"At the moment, I have a crucifix in my dressing room which I kiss three times, plus I eat three Haribos (lollies) and take three swigs of water before I go out on stage," he said to Britain's ES Magazine.

The play finishes its run on 25 June (16) and Kit is glad he only has three weeks left because the intense production is tiring work.

"I will be sad to say goodbye to it, it's a very demanding piece," he told Digitalspy.com. "In some ways it's ending at the right time in three weeks because we'll all be exhausted. It's one that will stay with me for a long time."

At the start of June (16), Kit shocked fans by shaving off his signature facial hair, and he enjoyed being noticed less by the public without the usual look of his Game of Thrones character Jon Snow.

"I'm doing what's called a shave test or something," he explained. "For my next job I have to work out how quickly I can grow a beard. To do that, I have to shave."

"These are mainstream publications writing about someone's beard being shaved!" he continued. "Hair grows back and actors have to change their look all the time. I find it consistently entertaining... I guess I'm associated with a look, so having shaved there was less being noticed, so that was quite fun."
