Kim Cattrall labels the Kardashians 'boring'
Kim Cattrall has no idea how the Kardashians have managed to build an empire.
The 59-year-old actress appeared on U.K. show Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (14Jun16) to promote her television series Sensitive Skin. As part of the interview, host Piers Morgan asked Kim what she thought about the Kardashians, and other female celebrities who have made what they deem a feminist statement by posing topless, flipping the bird and then posting the shot on social media.
"I think it's a bit boring, isn't it," Kim stated. "It's a kind of one-off situation - I can't imagine how you build a career, never mind an empire, on that, but they (the Kardashians) seem to have achieved it. But celebrity rules now, doesn't it?"
While she admits she doesn't watch their reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim laughed: "I don't think you can really avoid them, can you?"
Feminism has become a much talked about subject in recent years, with stars including Jennifer Lawrence, Patricia Arquette and Amy Adams all broaching the topic of the gender pay gap in Hollywood.
Asked for her definition of feminism, Kim insisted that equal pay should be the first issue to tackle.
"I think we should start with equal pay and also ageism - I see the scrutiny that women, not just politically, but in front of cameras, the scrutiny we have to go through as we age, which men don't really have to," she sighed. "And I also feel to tell stories about women at different points in their life - not just when they're young and nubile and gorgeous. What goes on past the teenage years, past 20, past 30, where you have other challenges. I think society really puts on women so many roles and some of them do gratefully - we want to have children, we want to be married and also be professional women. But it's a lot to ask."
