Khloé K: Caitlyn is still a father figure
Khloé Kardashian still sees Caitlyn Jenner as a father figure, despite her gender transition.
The 31-year-old reality star’s stepfather Bruce Jenner revealed he was transgender back in April and would be called Caitlyn from then on. While Khloé recently admitted that she still calls Caitlyn by her former name when they speak on the phone, in a new interview she adds that she still sees her as a dad too.
“I know she’s Caitlyn now,” she told Women’s Health. “But she’s still my father figure [in the same way that] single mothers can also take on both roles. We want her to be as happy and free as she needs to be.”
Khloé has been extremely supportive of Caitlyn and her transition, and has featured in the 65-year-old’s new reality show I am Cait. The star puts it down to her family’s caring nature, and that they will stick together through thick and thin no matter what.
“I think the best thing about all of us is that we genuinely give unwavering amounts of love and support and are so un-judgmental but always so supportive and encouraging, no matter what we do,” she explained. “I think we’re a real family, and we show that people have ups and downs and that people are going to make mistakes, go through different journeys, have highs and have lows.”
Khloe believes her relatives would never turn their back on each other, and this applies to Caitlyn even though she’s not a blood relative to her and siblings Kim, Kourtney and Rob.
“Bruce isn’t our blood, but he’s committed to our family, so we’re going to stand by each other,” she added in the interview, which took place before Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover was revealed and explains the use of male pronouns. “He’s gonna stand by us, we’re gonna stand by him.”
