Kerry Washington sidesteps divorce rumours
Kerry Washington has refused to comment on speculation her marriage has hit a rocky patch.
The Scandal actress refused to discuss her personal life during a panel at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, on Sunday (13Mar16).
According to E! News, Kerry, 39, began by explaining that she understands why other celebrities use Twitter or Facebook to set the record straight.
"Social media has actually been great for relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites, because people say things and they say, 'That's not true! Just so you know, that's B.S.!'" she said. "I'm thinking in some ways, it's been great because people are able to maintain their voice."
Speaking about rumours she is divorcing husband Nnamdi Asomugha, 34, a former NFL player whom she married in June 2013, Kerry said she would never comment on her marriage.
"If I don't talk about my personal life, it means I don't talk about my personal life," she continued. "That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumours about what's going on in my marriage, I don't refute them, because I don't talk about my personal life."
The mother of 19-month-old Isabelle Amarachi also commented on why she keeps her daughter's life as private as possible, though she admits she feels tempted to post photos of the toddler on Twitter, where she has 3.8 million followers, or Instagram, where she has over 2 million fans.
"I have these itchy fingers where I want to post a photo of my daughter, so instead I send it to my shrink or my mother," she revealed. "I'm like, 'Look at this picture! Look how cute!' Get it out of my phone into the world, but not on social."
"I want her to be able to make those decisions in her time," she explained."
Not only does she not discuss her home life, the brunette beauty doesn't show it off either.
While she frequently shows up on the red carpet alone, the notoriously actress and her husband did make an appearance together at last year's Met Ball in New York City (15).
Still, a source close to the couple told People magazine that they prefer to keep a low profile.
"They're homebodies and really weird about who they let in their circle," the source said. "Every now and then they'll go out to a movie at ArcLight, but they just hang out at their place."
