Kate Winslet's gardening regret

Kate Winslet wishes she was a better gardener.

The 39-year-old actress - who has daughter Mia, 14, and son Joe, 11, from her previous marriages, and son Bear, 16 months, with husband Ned Rocknroll - plays a professional gardener in new movie 'A Little Chaos' but isn't as green-fingered as she'd like to be in her everyday life.

She said: "I love gardens and I learned as much as I could, but I'm not a gardener.

"I wish I was. Every year I say, 'Right, this year we're going to do raised beds, we're going to grow carrots, we're going to do tomatoes...' And somehow life gets in the way and we never quite get around to it."

And Kate is particularly embarrassed because her daughter is already showing signs of being good with the earth.

She added: "My daughter is actually putting me to shame a little bit. She's doing a proper gardening project at school and apparently she's really rather good."

Despite her own lack of prowess outdoors, the British star enjoyed getting some hands-on experience in France, where the film was set.

She told Britain's OK! magazine: "We spent time in the gardens of [the Palace of] Versailles, which was a wonderful experience and I was very fortunate to have the support of a great, great team."
